is I.A.M.P.?
The
IAMP (Illinois Association of Mortgage Professionals) is a 20 year old
statewide professional organization representing Mortgage Professionals.
Whether you are a mortgage loan officer for a bank, a mortgage banker or a
mortgage broker, or an account representative for a wholesaler, this
professional organization is for you.
We,
at Benchmark Title, noticed that this organization had no representation
here in the metro east area, or anywhere downstate Illinois. The IAMP is
very big and a well respected organization, yet there were no members that
I was aware of in the downstate area. With that I contacted Marve Stockert,
the Executive Officer of the IAMP and discussed the issue of forming a
Southern Illinois Chapter of the IAMP. The ball began to roll rather
quickly and we had our organizational meeting and educational program on
July 16th 2008 at the Four Points Sheraton Conference Center. There were in
excess of 30 professionals in attendance at that meeting.
Here
are just two very good reasons that this is a good thing for you, the
mortgage professional in this area.
Illinois law requires that all mortgage loan officers, with the
exception of Loan Officers working at banks, pass a test and become
licensed by the state as well as have a certain amount of continuing
education to maintain their license.
The IAMP provides many courses to fulfill that requirement, either in class
courses or 23 courses on-line at www.mortageeducationfoundation.com.
Legislative
issues have become a large factor in your industry, both federal and state.
The IAMP has a very active legislative group that researches all proposed
legislation, federal and state to be sure that any factors relating to your
industry are passed on to you for your input.
The
IAMP also provides many seminars over the year with highly qualified
speakers with a wealth of information to share with you.
